Becca is a Cognitive hypnotherapist and coach who can help you change the story you tell yourself. If you often call yourself silly, dumb or and idiot, say things like I could never do that, I'm not going enough to do that then Becca is your woman. She can help you change your story to change your life.
Who are you and what do you do? I’m Becca, I’m a female-focused Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Coach. I help women overcome issues that are holding them back from living their best life such as; lack of confidence, fear, anxiety, low self esteem and anger.
What inspired/motivated you to create your business? I hadn’t work since I had my middle child, who turns 18 in May (yikes!) I used to work in television, which I enjoyed. But I knew this time around it would have to be something I was passionate about and that I could do on my own terms. I have always been interested in helping people. I know how it feels to be ‘stuck’.
What advice would you give others wanting to start a business? My advice would be to just keep moving forward. Sometimes it can be hard to keep up momentum when it’s only you who’s driving the ship - especially with family commitments. My motto is ‘Anything more than nothing is something’. That way, not a day goes by that I don’t to something to move to push my business forward. Be it big or small.
What have you learnt on your journey as a business owner? I have learnt that I am more capable than I thought. I’ve never been great with tech but when push comes to shove you just have to get on and do it- including building my website.
What has been the toughest challenge being your own boss? I have found the hardest thing to be the fact that it’s really only your baby and your family and friends (although excited for you) really don’t want to hear about tweaks to your website or your plans for advertising. It can be lonely.
What is the best thing about being your own boss? Definitely the flexibility it offers. When I’m not with a client I can work on my business at any time of the day or night and I love that.
Seven random facts about yourself
1. I used to be in a corporate band singing covers- we won corporate battle of the bands 2001 2. When the kids were 2,3 and 13 we moved to Canada for 4 years for my husband’s job- we had a great time and it made us so much stronger as a family. 3. When I worked at Vidal Sassoon as a receptionist back in the 90’s they held a fashion show and didn’t have a makeup artist so I stepped in. Vidal actually came and found me to tell how much he “Loved the look”. I almost fainted! 4. I have an obsession with interiors and for a while considered interior design. My particular weakness is cushions- I have taken to rotating them seasonally! 5. I am rubbish at having my picture taken. I find it impossible not to blink. So much so that my younger sister kicked me out of her wedding photos as I was ruining them! 6. I met my husband at work at a television company. He was the guy everyone warned me about- we’ve been together for 20 years. 7. I was always the uncool kid who got it wrong. One ‘non school uniform day’ I rocked up in green velvet trousers and a Lady Di ruffled cream blouse- everyone else turned up in jeans and a t-shirt. I was mortified. Now, I love that quirky, dorky me. It’s taken me a lifetime (and therapy) to realise it’s ok to just be yourself!
